For our project-based learning assignment we decided to split our classroom into groups of four. Each group will be studying a different country or region and they will be looking at how the culture affects their food choices. The maps we chose were of restaurants in Kalamazoo that represent each area of study. There are four maps that show Chinese, Mexican, Italian and Southern food in our area. The students will be looking into these restaurants and comparing what food they serve to traditional food of that region that they learn about from their pen pal. Their job is to then compare and contrast the traditional types of food to what we see in our community. We could have their Pen Pals do the same thing if possible in the towns they are from.

Maybe we could also try to look up places in some of the regions the students would be looking at. What do you think?
